The Inn

 Our Story Of

The Inn

Framed in verdant gardens and nestled in limestone streets, the Rosemount Inn is a universe of transformation. Built in 1850, The Rosemount House was the family home to English dry goods merchant Edward Hardy. Designed by renowned English architect William Coverdale, the estate is reminiscent of a Tuscan villa, with the hallways and the exterior exhibiting Coverdale’s trademark arches. The Rosemount first opened its doors to guests in 1990, and for over 30 years, we have been providing gracious hospitality to beloved friends, guests, and family. Today, The Rosemount Inn remains a Kingston landmark as well as a cherished home, brimming with history and exquisite memories.

However, rest assured that we are always available and can be easily reached through our text concierge system, open daily from 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. An after-hours emergency number is also provided to our guests in case of urgent matters.

  • We have implemented a no-contact check-in and check-out process that is easy, convenient, and safe. You will receive check-in details by email the day prior to your arrival. Should you require any assistance at all, our on-site staff are a quick phone call or text away.

Our check-in time is between 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. If you anticipate arriving outside of this time frame, please let us know so that we can make alternative arrangements.

Our check-out is at 11 a.m. To check out, simply leave your keys and enjoy the rest of your journey.

To ensure that you have a seamless check-out process, we pre-authorized the credit card on file for the cost of your stay one day prior to your arrival. After you check out, your stay will be charged to the credit card that we have on file and your folio will be emailed to you.

  • We have limited free on-site parking at the inn located on the north side of the house, entering from Sydenham Street. In case of overflow there is also parking available on our surrounding streets. From December 1 to March 31, we will pay for overflow parking at the nearby Frontenac Courthouse to ensure that streets are clear for snow removal services.

  • The Rosemount Inn is a heritage property and has retained many characteristics of a Victorian residence such as steps to the entryway, heavy doors, original windows, and a grand staircase. As such, we do not have elevators or other accessibility features that are common to more modern buildings, and understand that our property may not be suitable for everyone. If you have questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out to discuss.

  • It is free to change or cancel your reservation if we receive notice more than three days prior to your expected arrival. If changes are made with less than three days’ notice, we will charge for the full cost of your stay.

  • We are happy to accommodate groups up to four rooms (eight guests) however due to the small size of our property, we do not provide a group discount.

Unfortunately we are unable to accomodate groups for five or more rooms (10 or more guests) unless there is a full book-out of the property.

We are an ideal location for small, intimate events and would love to be part of your cherished memories! We are available for full book-outs between November 1 and May 31. Please contact us at info@rosemountinn.com to discuss your ideas.

  • The temperature in the Main House is centrally controlled and maintained around 21 degrees Celsius for optimal comfort. Fans are provided in each room for additional cooling and most rooms are equipped with gas fireplaces for both heat and ambiance. For your safety, our Main House windows do not open as many are original and sweep lower than modern windows.

Our Coach house rooms (The Edwards Suite and The Studio) have individual temperature control for heating and air conditioning, and the windows can be opened.

  • Unfortunately we are unable to provide secure storage for bicycles. Bicycles are welcome in the Coach House rooms (The Edwards Suite and The Studio), however they are not permitted in the Main House.

  • We do not allow smoking or vaping on our property. A minimum $300 cleaning fee will be added to your bill if we find evidence of smoking or any other damage to contents in your guestroom or common areas.

  • We welcome small and medium-sized dogs up to 50lbs in our Coach House rooms (The Edwards Suite and The Studio). A one-time $40 pet cleaning fee will apply to your stay.
